Have you ever thought about Hagrid's character beyond his friendship with Harry, Ron, and Hermione? I never put too much thought into Hagrid's character, but once I spent some time researching him throughout the series I could see how his relationships with dangerous creatures were affecting his life negatively. No one seems to be helping him control this area of his life, possibly because they haven't noticed either. I have also been researching Jacques Lacan, a psychoanalyst, who has several ideas on the process of making yourself feel complete, or what he refers to as filling the 'lack' in our lives. I can clearly see his ideas portrayed through Hagrid's character, but this goes beyond Hagrid. It's not just Hagrid who can fall into a cycle of seeking unhealthy solutions to fill the lack we feel. I plan to show you through my research how we need to become aware of these unhealthy solutions and how to go about transitioning into a healthier lifestyle.
